After much deliberation and concentrated thought, there is actually one final thing I would have changed about my performance. That is, that it could have done with being longer. If time constraints were not a problem for our pieces, I would have liked to have made mine 20 minutes. Obviously due to exam regulations the performance had to be limited with time and for this purpose I understand. However, if time was not a problem, I would have added more to the piece; such as the images of my weight gain, a longer more thought out process of my balding which maybe even ended in me shaving my head?
Anyway, that is the one thing I would have most liked to change about my performance. I feel it would have added a missing quality and given me more time to explain my predicaments and how I got over them. At the end of the performance I would have definitely added a song and given out wigs to audience members. This would have the effect of easing everyone and at the same time putting some people into a state of slight embarrassment; however, when more people are given and wear their wigs, everyone would be more at ease and enjoy the song. This would hopefully demonstrate my method full circle. The happiness and ease of life, then the moments of embarrassment [gaining weight, losing hair] and then as everyone has a wig, the ease of life again; just laugh it off and get on with things.
On a final note, I would like to thank my fellow performers and friends for their encouragement and sense of community throughout this module and lastly, Thank my module tutor Donald; for his enthusiasm throughout the module and his support with many strange and wonderful ideas. He is a credit to the Solo Performance Module.
