Adding on to the previous post. The image I had in mind whilst considering a border to and from places was the image below of Adam’s Passion (2015).
As you can see, this image has a clear and defining border that separates the actor from the audience, and allows a pathway in which he is lead to and from a place. Thus leading me to question whether I needed such an element in order for the audience to fully understand what is happening, without me having to fully explain each time i make a jump from the “here and now” with them and then to the past or future within the other areas of the space.
I believe I will have to try this method out with some participants to see whether or not they understand what is happening, and if they believe it is a good and productive idea or a confusing waste of time and effort.
