Me, Myself and I

Figure 1:(Svoboda, 1959)

The image above, is a performance of Hamlet in 1959, designed by Josef Svoboda.

Although I would never be able to achieve such great artistic design, I have thought about a performance that reflects my own self and everything ‘I’ mean to everyone. Before seeing this image, I had no real direction or connection to the performance I wanted to create. However, now I feel I have a stronger idea [if you will] with a performance I want to explore.

Every morning most of us look into a mirror to check our appearance, this interests me. What also interests me [and all of us, I believe] is our own presented image and what others perceive about us in our day to day lives. Also, I would like to look at what I think about myself. my own opinion must count for something?

Although this image has sparked and idea and an interest within me,as of yet I have no point of reference to move it beyond an idea. never the less, with more indulgence into the method of self appreciation or exploration, I hope to create an idea for a solo performance. Even though I don’t have a definitive idea for this performance concept, I definitely know that I don’t want the piece to be about inner struggles or my own problems or insecurities.
