Amy Taubin’s Influence

Within my new performance idea, I thought about how it might start and what will be visible on stage. After much deliberation, I have decided to toy around with the idea that I am not visible on stage [to begin with]. I developed this method through remembering the performance Double Occupancy by Amy Taubin, in which see can be seen in one room but not heard [as she is whispering into a microphone] and heard but not seen in the other room [through the use of speakers, connected to the microphone she is speaking into].

This notion of performance isn’t totally decided in my mind yet, as I am not fully connected with the idea of being totally hidden or removed for my performance. however, I have other inclinations where I might take the performance yet, although I will need to experiment with lighting and maybe sound, to define whether I shall need to tweak certain areas and not others.

This being said, removing myself or hiding myself from the audience partially excites and intrigues me, as it leaves the audience wondering what will happen throughout the progression of the performance.
